I've been apart of miracles, I've been able to pray at a drop of a hat. I've been able to be a part of things long distance and have seen the hand of God. So ... I facebook. Posting scripture is fun, blips & blurbs that you know some one else could use/need. So, what's your status? Is there a photo burning in your head? A recent photo and older photo? Places that you've gone?

Well, I'm in a funk ... and a bit bewildered. Angry ~ a tad! Sad ~ a LOT! and TIRED ~ I did something so out of character for me yesterday and it made my mind race all night as I heard things in the dark ALL NIGHT LONG. A few of my middle names are: sale, frugal, safety, organized ... but yesterday I threw safety out the window with the babies bath water and Uuugh! Deseparately, wanting to sell my home, ME ~ Mrs. be safe ALWAYS, let strangers into my home to tour without the assistance of a realtor. Don't beat me up ... I'm bruised enough from my own words!!
So ... re-focus ~ 2012 ...
First let's start off with OLW. One Little Word is the inpirational idea that Ali Edwards started. I love the challenge of finding a word to live by for a year. I thought I had my word but it just didn't feel like the right one. The more I pondered, thought, prayed ... it came to me = EXPLORE! I think that is the next step to take. Wellness was last year ... and what a craaaaaZy year 2011 was. So this year I am ready to EXPLORE! EXPLORE whatever comes my way. EXPLORE the journey this year will take me on. EXPLORE my new surroundings (if & when this house sells)! EXPLORE these emotions that trip me up ever so often ... yep it feels right!
Second, I have to confess. Pinterst in a full addiction. I find myself searching through pinterst any time I have a chance. Have you joined Pinterest yet? It is amazingly fun, full of inspiration...but fair warning highly addictive!
And Last, I have a project to share. I've been invited by Miss Kim to send a postcard weekly (YES, WEEKLY ... something of interest to me, her etc.) and I've taken the challenge!! So your input on interesting postcards, creative ones to possibly make would be ever so joyfully received. I've sent 2 and received 2! and YES it's the second week of 2012! Wondering what I might do with all of them at the end of this new year 2012. Happy 12 ... would love to hear from any of you ~ possibly a comment or two? and your prayers ~ for God to lead, and protect and to guide and for me to be obedient in this journey of life.

{heart} broken ...

heart broken ... have you ever had a broken heart? If not, you ain't alive! It happens to all of us, for different reasons ~ a heart broken is a heart broken! And it hurts, hurts in different ways depending of who broke it, when and the capcity of the brokeness. And yet, we all want to avoid this ~ it can't be avoided. What I do know it that God designed ALL OF US (you & me!) for eternity. Ecclesiastes 3:11 "He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end." So brokeness is apart of Gods design so that we realize the 'need' for Him, ~ a Savior, a Redeemer, a Friend, a Love, ... and that everything (that is pure, honorable, right, true) is beautiful for His glory. This tantilizng BIG world is beautiful, yet the worlds satisfactions are too small for any of us. We think "if I was richer, thinner, smarter, prettier, etc." my world would be fine (hunky dorie!) ~ NOPE. Why? I'll tell you why, as I am unpacking this one small verse ~ eternity ... the things of time and of this world WILL NOT, CANNOT fully & permanent satisfy. Time spent with a beloved (priceless), figuring out how to build whatever with someone (isn't about the project but the investment of TIME you've done with that person). What satisfies you? truly satisfies? Possibly a divine appointment that you know than you know (YES! I repeated that 2 times for emphasis) that only God Himself orchestrated to remind YOU of Who He is ... the Lover of your soul, your Friend, your Redeemer, your Savior, your All in All. And my broken heart ... God uses everything for His glory! Then Lord do it! His timing is NEVER late or in error. Okay, then Lord ~ Your will be done ever timely and perfectly. I know I'm preaching to the choir hear (I think I can even hear them sing!!) ... just searching for some, a tad bit of relief of my broken heart.

Gaining .... in 2012

This New Year GAIN something ~ why not try making recovery resolutions (positive words to get thru the day) rather than the same old New Year’s resolutions? Developing positive achievable goals ... "read more books, smile at everyone, experience JOY, interact more, LOVE ...using inspiring words, instead of numbers, to measure what appears on the scale. I’m gravitating and owning “EXPLORE.” What about you?

RESPECT, GLOW, JOY, CONFIDENCE, SPARKLE, SEXY, EXCITEMENT, JOURNEY, COURAGE, SATISFACTION, HOPE, MOJO, DRIVE, SHINE, PEACE, SPUNKY, RESOLVE, COMMUNICATE, PRIDE, GARDENING, CALM, FANTABULOUS, FUNNY, MOMENTUM
... just to name a few!!

I saw a commercial today from Special K encouraging a National Weigh In -

at first I was shocked and concerned. Then I watched further. This commercial encouraged women to “weigh-in” on a scale that says what they may want to gain this year. The scale read words such as satisfaction, joy, interaction, etc. What an amazing idea!! Why not stop trying to LOSE but rather work towards what we want to GAIN! Gaining ... in 2012!!!

Make a list of goals you want to achieve this year and focus on what you want to GAIN rather than what you want to lose. Your list may look something like this:

1. Spend more time with loved ones and developing authentic relationships
2. Practice listening to my body, what it needs for balance, health, rest, and nourishment.
3. Work on developing more insight and mindfullness in my daily life.
4. Read a good book
5. Take a great vacation
6. Go to the movies
7. Go for coffee with a friend ... Your list can be more specific, and you might even consider putting various interventions you would make towards accomplishing those goals!

Even, start a gratitude journal ... grateful DAILY for the simplest, even tinyest things!! Get help creating your list of intentions and what you want to gain! Get creative .. use the computer, magazines, crayons, markers ... use scripture to guide you, to heal you, to transform you and to GAIN in 2012!

I’ve always had a temper, but with the Lord’s grace, I usually control it. But yesterday (of all days? really?? seriously??), the old ME raised her ugly head and reminded me she still wants control. TOTAL & COMPLETE ~ added stress didn't make it any sweeter just bitter!!

She’s does this occasionally, but this time I welcomed her for awhile. And wept, and wept ... I couldn't see straight!

I repented a lot afterward, and I was disappointed. I didn't know the old ME still had such power!

Ephesians 4:22-24 says, “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” (NIV)

Yesterday was a reminder that I mustn’t let my guard down (NOPE, NEVER EVER EVER - oh and keep my mouth shut would be best!!). I must continually renew my mind, dwelling on God's Word (Colossians 3:16). When I do, the old ME never sticks around.

I think this is where I messed ME up, I've been reading through the Bible using Life Journey 2011 on my SmartPhone ... and yesterday, I had nothin' to read. Well, I had something to read, but did I? Nope!! Well there is my ME problem. Lord, will I ever learn this lesson. So .. onto a New Year to Explore. To Explore your Word, explore my world, explore some more!! And what I know that I know that I know ... to be grateful, gratitude OVER & OVER ... throughout all of my life. Will you join me? in a year of eXploring and gratitude?

LAST day O' the year ... 2011

Can you believe it? The last day O' 2011?! Wow ... what a year ~ In review, I travelled quite a lot in the beginning of the year and visited places I had only read about! WoW!! Then our youngest married Tosha ~ I was blessed with planning a wedding. Who would have thought? A momma of all boys? The wedding was beautiful, I had friends to help and such JOY and blessings too. Both of us turned the BIG 5 0! And such a wonderful new phase of our lives! Interestingly how no one ever 'plans' on such grief in the wake of 2 funerals of 2 matriarchs ~ yes, my MIL (Jean A. Reader) and my grandmother (Hazel M. Campbell) went home to the Lord within one month of each other. And continued blessings and the Hand of God through all of it. Oh, FOREVER in our hearts both of you will be! Later in the year, October 5, a precious grand baby girl arrived (Makayla Ray-Jean Reader). Great Grandpy reminded all of us that Makayla is the first girl in over 50 years; because his daughter Deborah was born ~ then 3 boys ~ then 7 grandsons ~ NOW, 1 great grand-daughter. Yep, I'm a G-Ma! (Pssst ~ a pretty good one I might add.) Life so changes ... Darlin' D has made such a tremendous impact in the fruit world that he decided to move into a new adventure. Yes, he is the new CFO of South Beach Diet. And yes, that means we will be relocating to fabulous sunshiney (is that a word?!) FLORIDA. Another chapter for all of us .. and by all of us, I mean 6 ~ yes, we are a family of 6 now. So we wait, and anticipate ALL that God will do. Such a good God we have, serve and worship. Come 2012 ... all that you bring, give and will guide into more of living for Christ. Happy New Year everyone ... bye 2011 and welcome twenty12!!

I LOVE it ~ nature that is. I try to 'garden' and am somewhat sucessful. Wherever I go, I look for what is 'out' there. I am surprised by the familiar and unfamiliar. A rose ~ I had an anniversary rose garden in Idaho and now I have 3 Reserve rose bushes in California! They are linked to memories .... memories!! we all have them ~ and a LOT of mine are within photos ... or the ordinary, extra-ordinary, familiar and unfamiliar!!

I've been praying like I always do ... and yet, there's more! My heart is heavy and aching ... and I pray because there is more! I'm 'happy' to see baby girl grow and what I've learned from her in just 13 days ... and I pray. Decided to study a bit more on prayer ~ and here are just a few things I've embedded into my heart. Grace of tears (Job 16:20), listening with the heart to the Holy within (can you hear it?!), God's power to forgive is greater than my power to sin, we are called to life transforming obedience, covering in prayer, sealing ourselves with the Cross of Christ. There is just sooooooo much! Prayer ... keep it simple and short ~ but don't be afraid to be real and honest before your God! To be done individually and corporately .. with joy & love! The Source for our lives ...

The Source for our lives will make all the difference in how our lives are lived day to day. It is true, we can succeed and even do well for days, weeks, even years on our own muster. But to truly be successful? To keep on enduring without burning out? To keep on loving when there is not love left to give? That takes drawing eternal water from the Eternal Source.

As mamas we don’t want to give our children a cheap imitation of Christ’s love, we want to give them the real thing. We want them to see Jesus in and through us each and every day. We can only do this when we spend time with Him, allow Him to love on us, allow Him to heal our hurts, forgive our sins. We need to drink from that beautiful Living Water, drink in His grace, His love, His light, in order that we may continue to serve and love our families.

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10

Yes, we are weary. There is no time in the day, why is that? There is no peace.

Yet, have you really tried to carve out a little space just for you and Him? Or is it easier to remain busy than to go before the Father? Are you worried about how you might look before Him? Still thinking about yesterday when you yelled at whoever, or how you spent the money on something other than what you should have? Or are you embarrassed that you frittered away precious time on the Internet? (not that I would know about any of these things. me? moi? YES! me/moi!)

You don’t need to clean up to go to Him. He knows your weaknesses, your struggles, your failings. He knows you. And He wants to spend time with you. He wants you to ask Him for help, to rely on Him for your every need throughout the day. He adores you, and is proud of you. Yes, you.

“Lord, my they see the gospel in my daily life?!! And, now rest in His arms and admit your brokenness.” Yes, REST ... even me, moi!!

So, today, I encourage you to fall into His loving embrace. Enjoy the fellowship. Enjoy the grace. And then, when you are filled up, share it with your family.

“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” 1 John 3:1

What is a natural pearl?

Most of us know how pearls are made. Just recently I 'discovered' that my own pair of pearls purchased on my honeymoon in St. Marteen are NOT real ~ totally shocked me when I went to have them restrung!

When a foreign substance invades an oyster, the intruder slips into the mantle tissue of the mollusk, causing irritation. It is somewhat like the oyster getting a splinter. “The oyster’s natural reaction is to cover up that irritant to protect itself,” as one source states.

As a natural reaction to this, the oyster secretes a substance known as nacre to envelope the foreign invader as a part of its self-protection. The nacre is secreted over and over creating layers around the irritant to make it smoother.

Over time, the layers create a shiny pearl of various colors (white, pink, black, red, blue and green). Pearls reach their full size over an average span of three years. Thus, the reason for their worth.

What is a cultured pearl?

Cultured pearls develop much in the same way. However, while natural pearls develop without human intervention, cultured pearls are cultivated through human manipulation, depositing the irritant within the mollusk.

What is a peril? The dictionary defines peril as something that causes an exposure to injury, loss, or destruction, grave risk, jeopardy, or danger.

Is there an irritant in your life, something that has attempted to destruct your life or invade your spirit? Has some circumstance, trial, or grief surrounded you, threatening injury or loss? (the answer is YES, because we all have or have had them!)

Some of our troubles emanate from our own human manipulation like the cultured pearl. We then try to cover them over by our own efforts. This usually results in the problem remaining as grit stuck in our craw rather than becoming a pearl.

However, some trials develop without our intervention. Like the irritant of the natural pearl, they just slip their way into our lives. And we wonder, how'd that happen?

The Lord takes all our perils, all those irritants and trials, hurts and heartaches, losses and griefs, and covers them over with His balm. He pours out the oil of His Spirit, layer upon layer, upon our souls and spirits until we have “beauty for ashes” and “the oil of joy for mourning.” (Isa. 61:3)

I don’t think it is any coincidence that the gates into heaven are each made of one gigantic pearl. (Rev. 21:21) God has taken all the perils, trials, and tribulations from the beginning of time and molded them into the pearly gates.

We shall enter those portals of pearl, passing through and leaving behind all that has grieved us throughout our lives, leaving our tears outside the gate and entering into the fullness of joy. I recently had my grandmother's pearls restrung. I wore them to her funeral in June ... and such a memory of having them and wearing them in honor!

Just as someone once said, “Nearly all God’s jewels are crystallized tears,” so all our perils are encapsulated pearls.

How long has it taken to make a pearl out of your irritant, your hurt, your peril? Are you still waiting for your pearls from perils? Hang on; it takes time. In God’s timing, all your troubles will be transformed into worthy pearls.

A pearl...a healed wound, born out of affliction. Are there any pearls in your life?

The world can seem like an unfriendly, threatening place, yet we all want safety, health, and happiness for ourselves and our loved ones. How can one ordinary person -- you or me -- make a positive difference in this world? One way is the practice "paying it forward." While the steps might be simple, the outcome could change the world.
Paying for someone behind you in line, offering lunch to the family on the corner, smiling to everyone, volunteering, making dinner for someone ... the list is endlist! What are your ideas? What are some of your gifts of generosity? NOW .. go do it!! let me know, k?

I'm so frustrated with people lately. How can people be so misleading toward someone? How can someone ask something of so many people, then not wait to hear the result? How can people use those around them who truly care? Why won't hurting people ask for help when you offer it to them DAILY? How can someone lie, continuously exaggerate just to get people to feel for them? God, I truly don't get it. I know we're all sinful beings, but these people are claiming to follow You. How will the world know what a true "Christian" should look like, if those of us who profess it, don't live it out, and live it out completely? It's no wonder we aren't able to be effect when it comes to reaching people for You.

God, I'm so frustrated right now. You know why, You understand. The same things I'm frustrated with, have frustrated You for hundreds of years. I know I have frustrated You in the same ways, and I'm SO sorry for that. I understand now, the feelings with in me, is the same feelings You had when I did it to You. Forgive me for the choices I made that frustrated You.

God, You know me inside and out. You know me better than my friends know me, better than I know myself. Only You can truly understand why this is getting to me right now. I can't even fully comprehend why I'm feeling this way. I pray that You reveal to me the reason behind these feelings. I pray You show me how to not cause You or anyone else this sort of frustration.

Continuously draw me back into Your embrace. Continue to give me a hunger and thirst for You that I've never had, but am loving. Lord, break my heart <3 for what breaks Yours! God, please continue to give me the discernment that I know only comes from You. God, give me a forgiving heart <3 that reflects Your forgiving heart. Enable me to extend to others even a portion the grace that You give to me daily.

Papa, You are ever faithful. You are honest. You don't deceive. You are who You say you are. You will never leave or abandon me. Your love will never fail me. Only You are perfect. You have my best interest at heart, even when it feels as though that is not true, You always allow me to see that it is. You love me just the way I am. You are forever & ever. You are the God of 2nd chances, of mercy!

God, help me to become a better friend. A better wife. A better sister. A better daughter. A better mother. A better MIL. Show me ways to be a grandmother (MaeMae). A better encourager. God, help me to become stronger in You, so that I will be strong enough to help those who are frustrating me right now, and not get bogged down so much.

Daddy, You know my heart <3 for You, as well as my heart <3 for the people You placed in my life. I pray that You will protect me, and those like me who are willing to bend over backwards for the ones they love, from being used. Daddy, we've been used so much already throughout our lifetimes. We should not be afraid to get involved in Your church because of fear of getting used, or getting sucked up into the drama of it all. That's not the way You meant it to be.

when you need peace …
So ends come, and beginnings too.

They always come together those two —like friends trusting each other.

The summer that was, it ends, slips behind us, and we’ll all begin yet another chapter of LIFE. New roles, titles and resposibilities for all of us. To love LIFE and all it brings for it truly is a gift from God. Do you know how much God loves you?? (psst. ~ sometimes I forget too!)

Something ends and something begins and I’m anticipating it soooo much! New blessings, new challenges, more things to pray with you about!! And I’m thankful for what’s behind, for I have never travelled this road that lies ahead of us.

But I keep pondering this, me on an axis of my own: Christ wins.

Roads can twist and what untwists me is just that: Christ wins.

I can fall and all hope can fall and the day can get extremely hard and in this is a startling fallen world — but what can negate peace when I know Christ wins?

This doesn’t mean I’m negligent and don’t commit – it just means I already know Who conquerors.

It means I know that the ultimate truth is, that no matter what is ultimately the problem, Christ ultimately wins.

It means I can risk and I can hold on and let go and I can say yes to God — Christ wins. All is grace because all can transfigure.

Christ wastes nothing and He repurposes pain for His purposes and He’ll use up all of creation for His glory.

We could and can laugh unafraid, you and I. Walk right out to the end of a limb. We could and can trust — us - believing. Do you know how much God loves you?

No, you and I have never been down this road before, this new one we’re just beginning — but maybe we know exactly where it leads? Are we really going to be grandma's? We can sit and blow bubbles and be the greatest grandma's there are!! k??

We have time to sing (and teach) and just be — Christ wins.

Three Ways to Forgive

1. Be a Screen Door - Like the wind blows through a screen door, let blustry comments, stormy blasts just blow right past. Incidents can only hit hard if you have your front door closed. But having a screen door policy allows some of the pain to blow by, us all hidden in Christ….

2. Only Believe the Best - When you believe that everyone is always just doing their best, that we never war against flesh and blood but against the principalities, that in light of this fallen world and sinful limitations, they truly are doing their best… this changes everything. Love bears all things, hopes all things, believes all things and whatever is good and pure and lovely, think on these things. THIS is where I fall to incredibly short. It's been a hard week, my heart has been broken, I've been physically weakened and ... I can't understand ... I get mad ... the wound gets bigger ~ and then Jesus, asks me "don't you understand he's mine?!" But Lord, he's not listening, doing, living, loving ... I hurt! Jesus, asks me "don't you understand he's mine?!"

3. Tell the Thankful Truth - The truth is, there is always something, a lot, to give thanks for. It might be so close you can't see it or it's so far away you have to squint to even fathom what it is! Consider offering a gift (a word, a hug, a smile, ...) of your gratitude and thankfulness. This kind of grateful truth-telling helps to heal old wounds. If you never ever recieve such a gift consider giving yourself the gift! YOU are precious in His sight!!

Living in CA I don't have a personal house mailbox ~ never ever really thought about it. I LOVE THEM and now, I don't have one. YES! I have a mailbox (need my address?!!) it's a carousel box ~ you know where I walk down the street, secretly hoping my neighbors will be there at the exact time I do so we can say "hi". Sadly, I can't get the rhythm of my neighbors (I used to know when my neighbors would go out front and retrieve their mail and coincidently I'd do the same ...Hhhmmm ~ doing LIFE together!) Anywho ... I miss that however, WHAT CAME IN THE MAIL FOR YOU TODAY?
DIL, T got an important document ~ I received a card from a beloved Friend O'mine telling me she loved me!!! Be still my heart .. just what I needed! Thank you Friend O' mine!

And ... with the upcoming "Showering of Tosha" (beloved DIL) there will be packages arriving. Some have already come ~ Ooooooh too much excitement and anticipation .. and I love it!! Shower is Sunday so I am busy as a bee, buzzing around town!! KWIM??

Do you ever read/ponder/meditate over scripture and then later realize there is a (deep) lesson there for you? duh!

I studied this verse, among others, just recently and ... It’s really the gospel in a nutshell.

As I mulled it over in my own heart, I realized that while it’s a small verse, it holds great power.

The power to love.
While I was still dead in my sins, Jesus loved me enough to lay down his life for me. He freed me from the chains of sin that bound me. It’s this powerful truth of the gospel that gives me the freedom to love. The power of the gospel propels me to love. It’s so powerful, it’s a matter of cause and effect; He loved us, we now love each other.

Because I have been forgiven of much, I can love much. Because I am loved, I can love those who won’t love me in return. Because I didn’t do anything to earn His love, I can love unconditionally. Because He loved those who hurt him and deserted Him, I can love those who hurt me. Because He laid down His life for me, I can lay down my life in love for others.

I hide this truth, deep in my heart where the other treasures of His word are stored. Then comes a day of running late, whining, losing things, bickering and I’m pushed hard. And then one more argument breaks out. My irritation builds and the frustrated sarcasm begins to rear its ugly head. I breathe deep and pause. “He loved me first, He loved me first, He loved me first…” It’s like a mantra I repeat over and over in my soul. The gospel of love reminds me of all I’ve done against my Savior and all He’s done for me. Slowly the irritation and impatience lessens, like air being released from a balloon. I can love and am loved by God–because He loved me first.

“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:7-10

Had a God appointment a couple of days ago .. friend O' mine (let's call her "flip") and I went to do coffee on a Monday of all days. I (we) never do this kinda stuff. Pouring our heart out over coffee, laughing, solving the world's issues and then ~ an ordained God appointment. A horrific event happened and one of the waitstaff working was distraught. What do godly women do? they console, care, touch the brokeness and offer the only 'thing' they have .. to pray ~ offer a face to look into. So we did ... and off we went into the week.

LQQk at this? This was created/planted during 'Serve Visalia' ~ there were many helping hands. It's growing and growing and growing. Over 60 lbs. of veggies (primarily yellow squash & zucinni) have been harvested. And the blessing part = Warehouse Community Church gets meals from this. The hope is also to supplement Wednesday nite dinners at NC Church also. I have a freindly hummingbird that will play in the water with me and a Robin that talks to me ocassionally. Only what God can do .... got veggies??!!

Jesus, as He walked this earth, modeled the life we are to live. I love the saying I heard years ago, I cannot remember where:

What does that mean to me? What should my ministry/daily LIFE look like?

Jesus ministered to the multitudes on many occasions. That ministry profoundly changed many lives. But His primary focus was on His disciples. And the way He did this is so instructive. He could have set up a "school" where he had hundreds of students taught in a lecture format. After all, He knew He would only be here for a short time. Wouldn't it be more efficient to teach large numbers of people so they could have a larger influence on more people faster? That's what most experts would probably have recommended.

He didn't do it that way. Instead, He called twelve men to walk beside Him and watch Him live. They "did life" together. They ate together, slept together, walked together, talked together as He trained them to accomplish the purpose He had for them. The entire time they were together, He was influencing them, directly through His Words and indirectly as they observed Him interact with the world. To truly change hearts, <3 it would take intense, focused attention and training. That normally isn't accomplished through "mass production." Complete transformation in His immediate circle would have an exponential effect not possible by a "lesser dose" with a greater audience. So what does that mean for me? I believe my ministry is to focus on a few at a time, those He specifically gives me. It is not a misuse of my time to spend intensive resources on a few for the season He defines. Yes, I can speak into other lives in limited ways as He directs, but if I go out and try to "gather" more than the number He sends, do I risk the impact that He intends me to have on the few? Do I really believe I can "disciple" more effectively than He did? And, here comes the exciting part: for this season of my life my primary focus is on my children. As a mother, I believe I am responsible first and foremost to disciple the children He has made me responsible for. For this season my primary circle of influence is my own kids. As I am focused on these beloveds, He often brings someone to me for a small window of time and the kids get to observe how He asks me to minister to someone else, but the focus of this season doesn't change. All along praying my beloveds are “getting’’ the lesson. The principle of the "seasons" in our life has to provide the filter for our commitments. During the season of parenting, we should not add any responsibilities He does not specifically give us. We can't add something to the life of our family just because it's a "good thing." If it does not enhance our ability to effectively accomplish the main goal of the season we are in, then it is not supposed to be added to that season. My new season has added a daughter in law, loving & guiding as my own. It all comes back to recognizing the primary responsibility for the season of life the Lord has us in. Nothing He calls us to do during that season will damage our ability to faithfully, fruitfully accomplish that responsibility. Anything He does ask of us during that specific season will enhance our ability to accomplish that primary responsibility. So for us, this season of parenting defines our primary ministry. And any ministry opportunities that present themselves must be evaluated and prayed over from that context. If that specific ministry interferes with our parenting, then it is intended for someone else to do, or for us to do in another season of our lives. Intense, intentional focus as parents produces the fruit intended for this season. If I don't get this season right, His ability to use me in the future is diminished because of my lack of faithfulness here and now. Yes, they are older and still my children; with a grand-daughter on the way ~ another generation! We need to ask the Lord to purify our schedules and our commitments. We need to ask Him to help us stay focused on what He has called us to now. To see my child working diligently, trying … I so want to protect and love and guide them all into knowing God is always there for them, He is their Rock & comforter. What season are you in? What is the primary responsibility for that season?Have you taken on things intended for someone else, or for another season?Someone once said years ago that our job is never to expand our ministry. Our job is always to deepen our message. The Lord will expand our ministry in His Perfect Timing for His Glory. What message have I instilled upon their hearts?!!?

Grow deep roots where you are. Grow deep roots so that the fruit He can bear through you is abundant and filled with Life. Your influence, under those circumstances, will be far greater than you can ever imagine. There is always time to wait on Him, to allow Him to teach you well in this season. And, so I wait …

I bend my head in prayer and weariness and sadness pour out my dirty heart like water. “Lord, you know how done I am, and how much I have botched things today and all the sins I have spewed and how little I have walked in Your Spirit.” I sigh, resting heavy head in hands.
“Please God, somehow don’t let my family & beloveds get confused about who You are by how I’ve sinned and muddled today with frustration that was of the flesh. I’ve fallen today and hurt hearts. Somehow, God, even in the midst of my mess, let them see You here in this place.” This place in my chest hurts, burns up my throat. So much has been going on, the grief and tthe highest stress ever within my life ~ and I can't control it, I can't subside it ... help, dear Lord!
“I repent, Lord. Oh, God, somehow be here. Amen.”

It’s a stripped-bare prayer, naked talk from a scratched heart. Have I ever prayed or am I begging for relief from the only source I can think of? And exactly what am I wanting relief from ... LIFE ~ no! from PAIN ~ possibly (yet, I know others have it far worse than I). Lord, I'm a mess & even whining now!
And in the moment more bills erupt, fear engulfs ... and I tremble. Why? am I not being faithful to trust? Scripture floods my mind .. I know that I know ... and still massed with "how will this work?"
Sleep is restless and interrupted like never before. Lord, what is happening that I can't rest? I know You and You alone are in control .. and I feel afloat in the turbulent ocean ~ searching for land to dock for awhile.

Lord, that I would know what your perfect will is .. to be obedient and serving for You is my hearts desire ...and I haven't a clue what You'd have me to do. Am I really doing nothing ~ no thing?!! What legacy am I living to leave behind. I know I'm tired .. whining again?!

“God, come near ... be here!”

In Loss, There is Hope ... I'm sure many of you are aware of the devastating impact that the tornadoes have had on much of the country these past few days particularly in Joplin, Missouri and parts of Oklahoma and Texas. It aches my heart. Lives are being lost, homes are being ruined. But in all of this loss, there is hope. And that hope is found in Christ. With so much heartache going on around the nation, I ask you this: What are you doing to make a difference? Whether it be prayer, or hands on help, we are called to be there for those who cannot make it on their own.

Across the world, people are crying out for help, but here in our own country, we can soften the burden. As we call on the name of Jesus for the fallen, the sick, the hungry, the hurt and the heartbroken, lives will be changed. Scripture says that as we do for these, we do for Him.

I'm a bit befuddled today! and I read this ... and thought Lord, come near to me! And He does ... ironically through a local hummingbird (that's another blog for another day). and this ...

‘Why do some persons “find” God in a way that others do not? …

Pick at random a score of great saints whose lives and testimonies are widely known… In some vital quality they must have been alike. What was it? I venture to suggest that the one vital quality which they had in common was spiritual receptivity. Something in them was open to heaven, something which urged them Godward. Christian theology teaches the doctrine of prevenient grace, which briefly stated means this, that before a man can seek God, God must first have sought the man… We pursue God because, and only because, He has first put an urge within us that spurs us to the pursuit… In practice, however …. man must pursue God….

We have almost forgotten that God is a Person and, as such, can be cultivated as any person can. It is inherent in personality to be able to know other personalities, but full knowledge of one personality by another cannot be achieved in one encounter. It is only after long and loving mental intercourse that the full possibilities of both can be explored.

All social intercourse between human beings is a response of personality to personality, grading upward from the most casual brush between man and man to the fullest, most intimate communion of which the human soul is capable. Religion, so far as it is genuine, is in essence the response of created personalities to the Creating Personality, God. “This is life eternal, that they might know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent” (John 17:3).

God is a Person, and in the deep of His mighty nature He thinks, wills, enjoys feels, loves, desires and suffers as any other person may. In making Himself known to us He stays by the familiar pattern of personality. He communicates with us through the avenues of our minds, our wills and our emotions.

The continuous and unembarrassed interchange of love and thought between God and the soul of the redeemed man is the throbbing heart of New Testament religion.

This intercourse between God and the soul is known to us in conscious personal awareness.

It is personal – that is, it does not come through the body of believers, as such, but is known to the individual, and to the body through the individuals which compose it… Come near to the holy men and women of the past and you will soon feel the heat of their desire after God.

They mourned for Him, they prayed and wrestled and sought for Him day and night, in season and out, and when they had found Him the finding was all the sweeter for the long seeking… They want to taste, to touch with their hearts, to see with their inner eyes the wonder that is God.

I want deliberately to encourage this mighty longing after God!

The man who has God for his treasure has all things in One. Whatever he may lose he has actually lost nothing – For he now has it all in One….’

Serve Visalia!

Prep work to get the Neighborhood Church Garden up and running. Prepping for Serve Visalia. This is a project where several local churches partner together to serve (assist/help) our community (Visalia, CA). We serve on a Sunday ... go out into the city and do jobs. Schools, senior citizen homes, wiping out graffitti (sp?), laying out mulch, picking up trash, just helping hands!! And this year a on-campus garden! I'll have after photos later!! THANK YOU everyone for everything!!

Words…

I love words. Always have. They are powerful, important, influential, endearing, instructive, inspiring and tender. But like a kaleidoscpe when the cylinder is spun in the shadows and we see a dark and different design, so, too, words have the tainted potential to be devastating, defeating, derogatory, discriminating, demeaning and divisive. The Bible tells us that words can give life or kill.

Look at this Proverb:
He who has knowledge spares his words. Proverbs 17:27a

This proverb doesn’t say knowledge is silent but rather suggests that knowledge is into selectivity and brevity. This brings to mind a picture of an old man leaning on the steady cane of knowledge; attached to his belt is a small purse. Inside that purse resides his carefully chosen words for the day. He has counted them out, and he holds them close until needed. Note the contrast in size and purpose between the cane and the purse.

I know from experience that the longer I talk, the more likely I am to regret something I say. Hmmmm. Maybe that’s what this verse is about. What words do you 'LOVE' to use, hear and/or repeat over & over?

If you know me, you know I get juiced about the B.I.B.L.E! Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth ~ and any way and many ways I want to get my young ladies in AWANA Club excited about God's Word too! Maybe I'm teaching just to myself .. anywho ~ I Tim. 4:16 "Watch your life & doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself & your hearers." It's not about a check list, a to-do list, lQQk at me kinda thingy ~ but all about Jesus and your relationship with Him. Oh how I want you to fall so passionately in love with your Creator! On a side note, I enjoy using the ABC's for teaching/learning whatever!! and one o' my favO'rite things to do is list the Names, attributes and characteristics of either God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit. I will do this in prayer time, sitting at a doctors office, driving ... and I'm going to use it tonight in teaching that the Bible is our resource book for life!! just sayin' have a great day! m

okay ... not often darlin' D has a holiday; yay! today was one of them. Off to breakfast ... a bit of running here and there ... shopped for a dress (found one!) .... and a day with my man!!
Remember that my "word of the year" for 2011 is weLLneSS ...and what a journey it's been ~ psst ... it's the 52nd day of the year!! I have NEVER been so motivated, disciplined, and to more doctors in 52 days!! There is a checkoff list when you turn 50!! Soooooo I am taking time with the many items on the list!! Now add MIL for me ~ yep! I will be a MIL in March! Addiding Tosha Thomson to our beloved READER clan. And... never ever thought I get to 'help' with the wedding plans, I must say I am blessed to be apart of it all!!
I have been taught 'SHAPE' several times in my life ~~ especially in Lesotho, SA .. and it popped back up ...so with that in my mind, body, heart & soul, I am working on my "SHAPE"...both physically and spiritually and they are both tough areas to conquer. Basically, they will never be conquered..a definite work in progress...but key word is PROGRESS...and that I am making, I did try on smaller sizes today ~ but not as small as I had wanted ... another day to move forward!

Now, let me admit, changing my diet was not a big change for me because I have been following WW since July 9th, 2010. Kinda stuck as of December ... but motivated to head toward WELLNESS and continue on this journey. Happy to say, investigating some things to 'jump start' to loss again.

Back to SHAPE...on the spiritual side of things..and PLEASE do not let this part frustrate you or make you want to click over to another blog..because like I have always said..IT IS NOT ABOUT RELIGION, but about 'doing LIFE together' and relationships!! ...you can apply what I am saying to everyday life!!

Heart.....
Abilities...
Personality...
Experience!
and it is what you do with your shape that not only matters...but makes a huge difference in your life and the life of others! Go ahead and get M.A.D. ~ Make A Difference!!! daily even. For one candle (your light) may light a thousand ...
